SubhanAllah, if there was something that could change one's destiny for better or for worse it is the Du'a/sincere supplication to Allah. This is why you (Muslim or non-Muslim) should be very careful with regards to your dealings with a Muslim.
There is no barrier between Allah and the du'as/supplications of a Muslim who has been mistreated unjustly by a sinner, evildoer or unbeliever. Beware of the du'as of the oppressed lest their du'as against you will be answered.
