Allah, the Almighty, said:
“Lo! The hypocrites (both hypocritical men and hypocritical women) shall be in the lowest levels/depths of the Hellfire.” [Qur’an 4:145]
It was narrated that the Messenger Muhammad SallAllahu ‘alaihi wa sallam said: The signs of the munaafiq/hypocrite are three:
When he speaks, he lies (he/she frequently tells lies). When he promises, he breaks it (when he/she states that they’ll do something in the future, they almost never do it. they break their promises frequently.). And when he disputes/argues, he behaves in a very insulting and egotistical manner (always thinking that he/she is right when it is obvious that they are wrong).
For the sake of Allah, never be friends with a hypocrite. Other signs of hypocrites include:
1. Acting as though they are religious Muslims when on the inside they have no faith/Imaan at all (i.e. they do not even believe in Allah).
2. They only pray when amongst Muslims, as in Friday and Eid prayers. They never pray when they’re alone.
3. Their intention of pretending to be Muslims are usually to spy on Muslims and create disunity/problems (such as promoting evil deeds etc.) in the Muslim society. Allah knows best.
Those are some of the reasons why the hypocrites will be in the lowest levels/depths of the Hellfire.
